I am grateful to the various sites from where I picked up ideas for the write-ups, images and videos that happened to touch my heart while preparing myself and my children on this Advent journey in faith .. I have tried giving credits where I could.. I have tailored the materials accordingly to suit my needs. My sincere apologies if I have not given due credit in all places. - Sabrina D'Mello

Reflection
Today’s
devotion is about the day Jesus, being the first born male child, was set apart
as holy to the service of the Lord. He was presented at the temple in
Jerusalem, when he was 40 days old. Luke emphasizes the fact that both the
parents of John and Jesus fulfilled all that was required by the law.
For the
presentation, the rich were required to bring a lamb, but the poor or middle
class could either offer two turtle doves or two pigeons. Mary and Joseph
offered two doves proving their sanctified state of poverty and that it is not
dishonorable to be poor.
In His
presentation, Jesus was officially set apart and presented to the Lord for the
unique work He would undertake. Through faith in Him, God sets you and me apart
from all people, so we may serve the Lord and share Jesus’ story with those
around us.
Christmas
Symbol :
Gifts
The wise men
instilled the concept of gift giving at Christmas when they brought gifts of
gold, frankincense and myrrh to honor Baby Jesus.
Today God also gives
us the gifts of the Holy Spirit which help us to follow God's direction in our
lives. The seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit are Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel,
Knowledge, Piety, Fortitude, and Fear of the Lord. Appreciate the gifts and use
it to its full.
Prayer
Lord,
this Christmas I ask that you to send your Holy Spirit to revive me. Help me to
be humble and always remain in awe of you which will form the fabric of my
life. Amen.
