5-Jan-2019 - 12th Day of Christmas

I am grateful to the various sites from where I picked up ideas for the write-ups, images and videos that happened to touch my heart while preparing myself and my children on this Advent journey in faith .. I have tried giving credits where I could.. I have tailored the materials accordingly to suit my needs. My sincere apologies if I have not given due credit in all places. - Sabrina D'Mello

The Eve of the Feast of the Epiphany is the twelfth day of Christmas, and tonight is known as the "Twelfth Night". Today the three kings should be placed close to Jesus in your crib.  In some homes, gifts are not given on Christmas Day but on the eve of Epiphany to mark the gifts given by the Magi.

On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Twelve Drummers Drumming

The twelve points of doctrine in the Apostles' Creed: 1) I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. 2) I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. 3) He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. 4) He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell [the grave]. 5) On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. 6) He will come again to judge the living and the dead. 7) I believe in the Holy Spirit, 8) the holy catholic Church, 9) the communion of saints, 10) the forgiveness of sins, 11) the resurrection of the body, 12) and life everlasting.

Let’s watch the Scriptures Luke 2:34-35

Reflection
After blessing God, Simeon turns to Mary and says something strange. She will see the nation of Israel reject their Messiah and speak against God. This is not what Mary expected to hear about her baby, and probably never imagined would happen.

Simeon warns that when He is grown and begins His ministry, there will be the rising of believers and also the falling of those who reject the salvation He came to bring.

But Simeon tells her that mothering the Messiah would not be all sweetness; she will feel as if a sharp sword is piercing through her own soul.

In all the Christmas memories Mary shares with Luke, for the first time Mary feels sad. She not only remembers the moment when Simeon prophesied it, but she recalls those bitter hours when she stood beneath the cross of her beloved Son Jesus Christ.

But the cloud quickly passes as she remembers that three days after dying, her mighty Son rose to life again.

 Christmas Symbol :
Snowflake

Since snow falls during this time of the year in the Northern hemisphere, snowflakes have naturally come to be associated with Christmas. Did you know that every single snowflake is different? There are no two snowflakes exactly alike. God made each of us unique as well. There is no one else just like you! He had a plan for your life before you were even born. He loves you and created you to fulfill a special purpose.

Today, keep warm, especially if it’s snowing and enjoy some hot chocolate. While you’re at it create some snowflakes using white paper and scissors to decorate your refrigerator or room. No doubt about it, every one is sure to be unique!

Prayer
Lord, thank you for creating each one of us unique and special. Help me to use my uniqueness for you and instill in me the boldness to fulfill the special purpose you have created me to further your kingdom. Amen.

Let’s sing along with this carol -
