13-Dec-2018 - Second Thursday of Advent

I am grateful to the various sites from where I picked up ideas for the write-ups, images and videos that happened to touch my heart while preparing myself and my children on this Advent journey in faith .. I have tried giving credits where I could.. I have tailored the materials accordingly to suit my needs. My sincere apologies if I have not given due credit in all places. - Sabrina D'Mello

Let’s watch the Scriptures Luke 1:36-38

Reflection
Though Mary didn't ask for any signs yet the Angel tells her that her own relative Elizabeth, who was considered barren, is expecting a child at her old age. Now if God can do that, He can do what He promised Mary too. This news strengthened her faith even more and Mary humbly offers herself to God's wonderful plan, not knowing the path she will follow, but allowing God's plan to unfold in her life. We can learn a lot from her attitude!

God throws upon us several challenges in life which are often unexpected, yet God promises to be with us along the road.  Just keep the faith and trust Him.

We are not aware of how Mary and Joseph travelled on their trip to Bethlehem.  The Bible does not give any details.  But assuming that being a very long journey, it was likely that they would have travelled on a donkey as Mary was already way ahead in her pregnancy and she would not be able to walk the entire way.

Donkeys are slow, methodical, and strong animals. Sometimes strength of character and slow persistence are just the traits needed to bring Christ to someone who is not particularly interested in knowing Him.

Today do something thoughtful for a friend or a colleague as it may be the very thing that draws that person to Jesus.

Prayer
Lord, strengthen my spirit and set my pace so that I may be an effective instrument in bringing Your message to others. Amen.

Let’s sing along with this carol -
